Waiting for inspiration ...

Cultivate new thoughts

And let the little ideas grow

maturing in their own time

into full-sized dreams...

The Secret Heart of the Clock (ver2)
(with apologies to Elias Canetti)
(I much prefer this draft! The symbolism that emerged makes the [meaning] clearer I think :-)
Process Note: original shapes evolved , while some were erased. And the images needed some time to "decompress" before other "hidden" aspects, like the locked heart, the time-tortoise and even the key/lock symbols became more prominent.
A Creative Talisman by Colleen Doran

I met Colleen Doran briefly when she came down to Singapore for a writer's conference in 2005. The lovely author of A Distant Soil was kind enough to draw me a "creative talisman" on request--something to help inspire me to keep drawing. Here it is!
Thanks Colleen!
Balance

Often I find myself caught between these two needs: Stability versus Flight. Always separate, never on the same ground. But I can't be one without the other.
What else can I be--the string that ties both of us together?
Or do I let it all go? Or be all three at once?

Waiting for Courage ...

The Road to the Lost City ...

The creative journey continues
along the long, winding road.
Where does it lead to ... ?

The clear path stretches on before you ...
But what obstacles block your way?
None,
except the obstacles
that exist
only in your head.
Facing Fear ...

One day, little fear meets BIG FEAR.

fear: Who are you?

FEAR: WHO ARE YOU???

fear: I'm fear.

FEAR: WELL, SO AM I!!

fear: I'm supposed to be scared of you!

FEAR: I'M SUPPOSED TO BE SCARED OF YOU TOO!

FEAR and fear glare at each other for awhile...

FEAR & fear: Oh.

FEAR & fear: Ho HO ho HO HO ho ho ...

At the crossroads...

Cast Adrift

Immobilised By Too Much Research

The Cast

Meaning to Matter ...

I burn with a desire
to create ...

Inspiration lifts me off
the mundane ground

a brief moment ...

Hanging on, I fear ...

i wonder ...

Will this brief,
wild passion burst ...?

and send me crashing
back to

the all-too

solid ground ...?

Moonshine

Where do ideas come from?

Perhaps the most unexpected places.

You could squeeze precious drops from even the most desolate landscapes, or moisten the most arid of thoughts.

It just takes some effort to gather fresh points of view.

It just takes some time to see things a new.

Cheers!

The Crescent Moon

Welcome to Journey to The Lost City!

Hello There!

Journey to the Lost City is a work in progress ... A fantasy world, filled with characters from my imagination embarking on numerous adventures. A hero's journey taken by my psyche, or the many parts of it.

This is the first time I have embarked on my own personal creative journey to create a work like this--and it's about time! It's taken me years to get my creative skills together, and the courage, to pull of something like this!

So do join me and my cast of characters as they go on their wonderful, creative adventures, as they fight the many villains of anti-creativity!

Cheers,

Mun Ying
